To mark a significant anniversary for one of Everyman’s founding chairmen - a figure instrumental in shaping the company’s visuals and culture - I was tasked with leading the design and creative direction of a commemorative book. More than a simple tribute, this was a deeply personal artefact intended to honour his legacy, celebrate his impact, and reflect the Everyman aesthetic at its most refined. Working closely with the wider team, I curated and designed an 80 page publication, compiling personal anecdotes and reflections from over 40 colleagues across the business. The emotional resonance of these stories was balanced with an editorial layout that leaned heavily into Everyman’s signature visual language - elegant, cinematic, and timeless. The design approach took cues from the chairman’s own affinity for classic Hollywood and mid-century film culture. Every page was carefully considered: paragraph styling, rag, kerning, and tracking were all meticulously tuned to ensure the typography felt as considered as the sentiment it carried. The result was a publication that didn’t just document a milestone - it captured the spirit of Everyman through the eyes of the people who live and breathe it. Thoughtfully designed, emotionally rich, and undeniably cinematic, the book served as a fitting tribute.
